Amsterdam in 2013 attracted more than 6 million residents representing over 11 million booked nights. Not previously received the Amsterdam hotels so many bookings.
Compared to 2012 is the increase of 5% and 7%, respectively. The growth is mainly
thanks to Dutch (+ 19%) and Germans (18%). In Spanish, the number
overnight stays by 15%.
Increase business and recreational segment in 2013
The number of hotel nights with a business reason increased in 2013 by 7%, slightly faster
than the number of overnight stays with a recreational reasons (+ 6%). Business
segment was good in 2013 for 39% of all overnight stays.
The leisure segment consists partly of cruise ship passengers. The
river cruise visit in 2013 by 7% to 355 687 visitors. They have in
total 462 400 nights in Amsterdam, most hotels. The
zeecruisebranche was good for 275 400 passengers in 2013, 5% less than in 2012.
Leisure tourism was partly stimulated by the reopening of the
Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum (together accounting for 4.4
million visitors in 2013). The total number of museum and attraction-visitors
increased compared to 16% and 4% respectively in 2012.
